BEIJING: CNS Linyi, a Type 054A-class guided-missile frigate from China PLA’s North Sea Fleet has won two vessel contests of the Int’l Army Games (IAG) 2022 since Monday.
Linyi has participated in naval escort missions at Gulf of Aden and the evacuation from Yemen.
But sailors on board have almost zero experience on int’l competition.
On the high seas off China's east coastal city of Qingdao the frigate won two matches of naval gun firing and naval gun air defense.
The main gun never failed in more than ten pre-trainings with 400 shells fired thanks to the meticulous maintenance work.
Linyi, commissioned on December 22, 2012 carries HQ-16 medium-range air defense missiles and anti-submarine missiles in a vertical launching system (VLS) system.
The Chinese army has been invited to participate in IAG since 2014.
The Games was initiated by the Russian Defense Ministry in 2013.
