In addition, Pentagon Speaker John Kirby said for the first time that the United States is preparing a package of military assistance to Ukraine, which will include not only defensive, but also offensive weapons.:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after a personal meeting in Kiev with his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky, once again offered mediation to Ukraine and Russia and criticized Western countries for "irresponsible occupation scenarios."

The Turkish president began by criticizing the West for "irresponsible statements and published occupation scenarios that drain the Ukrainian people." He stated that he was ready to do everything necessary to end the crisis of "two neighboring friendly countries" and "to put out the fire, not kindle it." The Turkish President also said that he supports the settlement of the conflict on the basis of the Minsk agreements, while Zelensky did not mention them at all during his speech.

Ukraine received the seventh batch of American weapons

A cargo plane carrying ammunition from the United States landed on Thursday at Boryspil International Airport near Kiev, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said.

“The seventh American bird has landed in Boryspil! This time - 85 tons of combat ammunition for grenade launchers, ”he wrote.

Reznikov promised that this game would not be the last. “To be continued,” the minister assured.

Deputies of "Eurosolidarity" want to dismiss the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs

A group of deputies from the party of the ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko "European Solidarity" registered in the Verkhovna Rada a draft resolution on the dismissal of the Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monastyrsky.

The initiators of the document cite facts that, in their opinion, testify to the minister's improper performance of his duties. The explanatory note clarifies that it is about the obstruction by law enforcement officers of the actions of Poroshenko supporters near the Pechersky District Court of Kiev on January 17 and 19 and the detention of activists of the SaveFop movement on January 25 near the Verkhovna Rada.

The authors of the resolution called the last extraordinary event the incident with the deputy Alexander Trukhin, who tried to bribe the police and avoid responsibility after an accident, because of which he was subsequently expelled from the presidential faction Servant of the People.

The LPR condemned the statements of Kuleba and Danilov

Statements by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov about the impossibility of implementing the Minsk agreements contradict the official position of the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said Maria Kovshar, press secretary of the LPR delegation at the Minsk talks.

“While the office of the President of Ukraine assures Western partners of their adherence to the Minsk agreements, high-ranking officials appointed by them categorically reject the possibility of their implementation,” the LPR Foreign Ministry said in a statement. “A logical question arises: do any Danilov-Kulebs even understand that with their verbiage, intended exclusively for domestic consumption, they contradict not only the officially declared external position of the presidential office, but also their obligations under the Minsk agreements?”

Kovshar believes that Danilov and Kuleba, with their statements about the impossibility of implementing the Minsk agreements, are trying to calm down the “Ukrainian radical nationalist resolutely aggressive minority.” At the same time, she notes, Zelensky and his office “desperately assure the world community of Ukraine’s commitment to resolving the conflict in Donbass peacefully on the basis of the Minsk agreements, and the Normandy Four are looking for ways to establish a productive dialogue in the Contact Group for this purpose.”

NATO and the EU are discussing the Ukrainian situation

The EU and NATO ambassadors held a joint meeting in Brussels to discuss the situation in Ukraine and agreed to coordinate measures to support this country.

“The concentration of Russian forces near the borders of Ukraine and on its territory (meaning Crimea) was discussed at an informal meeting of the North Atlantic Council and the EU Committee on Defense and Security,” NATO said.

“NATO will continue to consult and coordinate with close partners, including Ukraine. This meeting was an opportunity to deepen the common approach between the NATO countries and the EU and strengthen the unity of efforts to support Ukraine,” said NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana following the meeting.

Medvedchuk's appeal postponed for two weeks

The Kiev Court of Appeal postponed to February 17 consideration of the appeal in the case of the head of the political council of the Opposition Platform - For Life party, Verkhovna Rada deputy Viktor Medvedchuk.

Earlier, the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada from the Opposition Platform for Life Vasily Nimchenko and Grigory Mamka issued a joint statement in which they indicated that the Ukrainian authorities were grossly violating the laws by keeping Medvedchuk under arrest for more than six months. In their opinion, the extension of round-the-clock house arrest for more than six months is contrary to the Constitution and the Criminal Code of Ukraine, as well as the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights.
