NEW YORK: Google has begun rolling out a new Gmail design for the web. This will result in a visual change, although the UI will still appear somewhat similar overall. Even though things will appear to be different, the company is not making too many changes. Those who have been following Google's announcements will recall that this redesign was announced at the end of last month. The corporation refers to it as the "new integrated view." The redesign is now being rolled out to all Gmail users, including personal and business. The new design, however, will take time to reach all the users.
Google has detailed how users can switch to the new look manually. They only need to click the 'Settings' icon in the upper-right corner. There, under 'Quick settings,' users will find the option 'Try out the new Gmail view.' If it isn't there, it means the redesign isn't yet available to that user and they'll have to wait a little longer. If it is, and the user clicks it, the new window will offer him or her to click 'Reload.'
Google mentioned that its users need to make sure Google Chat is enabled in Gmail and the reason for that is not yet known. Another point noted by the company is that you may be prompted to switch to the new design by Gmail itself. The prompt may appear in the lower-right corner.
Google also described how this new UI works, despite the fact that it is very identical to the previous one. The "app main menu" is on the left side and allows you to choose between Mail, Chat, Spaces, and Meet.
Hover over the app icon to get a floating preview for each of the services listed on the left, except Meet. The new notification bubble in the bottom-left corner allows you to preview, reply to, or open a message (full screen or pop-up window).
Google recently stated that it has seen a 50 per cent decrease in accounts being compromised because of the security of Gmail accounts by
