Turkey condemns military coup in Guinea!

Istanbul: The State Department condemned the coup in Guinea and the detention of President Alpha Conde.

“We condemn the attempted coup in Guinea and the detention of President Alpha Conde, and we meet with deep concern,” the ministry said in a statement.

In the statement, which included the assessment that “Turkey is against attempts to illegally change elected governments,” the statement emphasized strong expectations for the speedy restoration of constitutional order in friendly and brotherly Guinea and the immediate release of President Conde.

“Turkey will stand by its friend and brother Guinea during this difficult and sensitive period,” the statement said.

Gunshots were heard in the morning from the Kaloum region, where the Presidential Palace Sekoutoureya and administrative buildings are located in Conakry, the capital of Guinea.

A few hours after the incident, a video containing the statements of Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, the head of the Special Forces Units (GFS), about their takeover of the administration, was circulated on social media, and images of President Conde’s detention by the soldiers were shared at the same time.
