Moscow: Fragments of the An-26 plane that went missing near Russia’s Khabarovsk were discovered, a source in emergency services told "The fragments were discovered in the search area," the source said.
The Khabarovsk Region joint natural reserve and national park directorate confirmed the reports that the debris of the missing An-26 plane were found. "The crash site was discovered near the settlement of Korfovsky," the directorate said.
According to the report, the search for the aircraft, suspended at night due to poor visibility, continued in the morning, after which a likely crash site was found, as indicated by the wreckage. However, it is impossible to accurately establish this from a height; rescuers are looking for a place to land a helicopter.
As noted, the plane fell on a ridge three kilometers from the road of the village of Korfovskiy on the territory of the Bolshekhekhtsirskiy nature reserve. Currently, a ground rescue team is making their way to the crash site, which is being led by the reserve staff. In total, 70 rescuers and 20 pieces of equipment are involved in the search for the missing An-26.
