MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed several more ministers and deputy prime ministers, according to the relevant presidential decrees.
This is the first Russian government formed under the new procedure envisaged by the 2020 constitutional amendment. Before being appointed, all the candidates were considered and approved by parliament. Once approved by either of the houses of parliament, the candidates could not be rejected by the president.
Along with the prime minister, the new Russian government consists of ten deputy prime ministers and 21 ministers. The number of ministries remained unchanged compared to the previous government. Five ministers, namely the interior, foreign, defense, emergencies, and justice ministers, are subordinate directly to the president, while the rest are accountable to the prime minister.
The State Duma approved the new composition of the government
During the plenary session, the State Duma approved all the candidates proposed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishutin for the positions of heads of federal ministries.
Thus, Roman Starovoyt was appointed Minister of Transport, Anton Alikhanov Minister of Industry and Trade, Sergei Tsivilev Minister of Energy, Oksana Lut Minister of Agriculture, and Mikhail Degtyarev Minister of Sports. The remaining candidates were re-appointed to their positions.
It was previously reported that Putin re-approved the leadership of his administration. At the same time, Dmitry Peskov remained as press secretary of the head of state that Russian President Vladimir Putin re-affirmed the leadership of his administration. Thus, the head of state, by a corresponding decree, appointed Anton Vaino to the post of head of the presidential administration. Dmitry Peskov still holds the position of press secretary of the country's leader. Alexey Gromov and Sergey Kiriyenko also retained their posts. They are the first deputy heads of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation. In addition, Maxim Oreshkin now holds the post of deputy head of the presidential administration.
