Putin allowed the growth of trade between Russia and China to $ 200 billion

MOSCOW: Russia and China may soon reach a trade volume of $200 billion, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the chairman of the standing committee of the National People's Congress Li Zhanshu on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum on September 7.

“Our strategic partnership is developing, developing very successfully. The turnover is growing. Last year it was significant - 36%. It has already reached $ 140 billion. It continues to grow, for the first half of the year it has grown by another 30%. Apparently, we will indeed soon reach $200 billion,” he said.

Dmitry Birichevsky, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on August 17 that trade between the two countries in 2022 is growing at an enormous pace.

Birichevsky added that for 20 years the Russian Federation and China have organized a comprehensive system of bilateral relations at different levels - from the highest to the regional - in various fields and sectors.

The General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China on August 7 reported that the volume of trade between China and Russia in the first seven months of this year increased by 29% year on year and amounted to $97.71 billion. At the same time, it was specified that the Russian side increased exports to China by 48.8% , up to $61.45 billion.
