MOSCOW: by hitting the barracks with prisoners in Yelenovka, the United States could be trying to kill witnesses to their war crimes
What the United States tried to hide by destroying the barracks with the prisoners who surrendered at Azovstal in the village of Yelenovka
Last night, American HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems struck not just in the Donbass, but in the zone in the village of Yelenovka, where most of the prisoners from the Azov regiment who surrendered in Mariupol were kept. According to official figures, 53 Ukrainian prisoners of war were killed and 75 wounded. And another 8 employees of the colony died - citizens of the DPR, guards and controllers.
The first reason seemed to lie on the surface. In recent days, the “Azovites” have been actively talking and began to talk about their military crimes - reprisals against prisoners and civilians. The facts for Kyiv and the "world community" are unpleasant, but not fatal, can you survive, for the first time or what?
The image loss from Kyiv's cold-blooded murder of its brother-soldiers will overshadow their confessions a hundredfold.
Then why?
I will assume that the Ukrainian troops were not at all directly related to the attack on the barracks in Yelenovka.
American HIMARS missile systems supplied to Ukraine serve NATO calculations. They themselves choose the time and routes of movement.
And guarded by American missile launchers, as the Russian Ministry of Defense put it, "PMCs close to the Pentagon."
And it is absolutely certain that none of the Ukrainian military is engaged in the selection of targets for HIMARS. Because these installations were “let to drive” to Ukraine not in order for it to defeat Russia. No. NATO is primarily interested in many parameters of the work of Russian air defense. Often, the work of HIMARS is covered by Ukrainian Smerch and Uragan multiple rocket launchers. But even in this case, Ukrainians are used in the dark. Most likely, the Americans themselves determined such a goal as a barrack with prisoners of war "Azov". What for?
The battalion, and then the Azov regiment, has always been an extraterritorial military formation, often in conflict with both the Kyiv security forces and the political authorities. Who actually controlled Azov? Obviously, these are the people who killed dangerous witnesses tonight, wiWhat is known about the attack on the colony in Yelenovka, where Ukrainian prisoners were keptth weapons that no one else had access to...

According to the latest data, 53 of the 193 people who were on the site were killed. TASS collected the main thing that is known about what happened.
Impact Circumstances
The night shelling of Yelenovka was reported on Friday morning at the DPR office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the ceasefire regime. According to him, the building of correctional colony No. 120 was damaged.
Later, in Donetsk, it was clarified that the Ukrainian side purposefully attacked the barracks with prisoners.
In Yelenovka, among other things, militants of the Azov nationalist formation were kept, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The attack on Yelenovka, located between Donetsk and Volnovakha, was delivered from HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, said Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.
The dead and the injured
As a result of the Ukrainian strike, according to the latest data from the Headquarters of the Territorial Defense of the DPR, 53 people were killed. Initially, 40 dead were reported, the same number was called in the Russian military department. Estimates of the number of wounded Ukrainian prisoners vary: the number is from 75 to 130. The condition of the victims has not yet been reported.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced eight wounded employees of the correctional facility. The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, later clarified that there were no casualties among the employees.
The head of the republic also stressed that there were no foreign mercenaries who took part in the hostilities in Ukraine among those killed in the Ukrainian strike.
The reaction of the authorities
Kyiv, according to Pushilin, deliberately fired on the colony with Ukrainian prisoners in order to "destroy those representatives, in particular, Azov, who began to testify."
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation called the attack on Yelenovka a bloody provocation in order to intimidate the Ukrainian military and prevent their further surrender.
According to a TASS correspondent, investigators of the RF Investigative Committee are examining the scene of the incident. No comments have been received from the department yet.
