Washington: General Milley stopped just short of labelling the Chinese hypersonic test as a 'Sputnik moment'
In an interview with Bloomberg News , Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley confessed that the hypersonic missile test reportedly conducted by China earlier this year was a cause of great concern for the US. In a particularly illuminating moment of the interview, General Milley stated that he doesn't "know if it's quite a Sputnik moment, but I think it's very close to that. It has all of our attention."
In response to the Financial Times story that first reported on the hypersonic missile test, China stated that the launch was actually that of a spacecraft and not a weapon system.
